Dallas Liposuction
If you are not sure what liposuction is, it is a surgical procedure that many Dallas liposuction qualified surgeons use to provide refinement to your figure. This means that liposuction is NOT a method for weight loss or a "shortcut" to becoming thinner.
The amounts of fat removed during a liposuction procedure are actually quite small, and the patient does not lose much weight. What liposuction does do is enable the surgeon to remove excess fat from very specific areas of the body, eliminating stubborn isolated areas of fat for a patient who, if they were overweight, have ALREADY lost the weight.
Some common examples of the areas liposuction is used for are the tummy, love handles, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, arms, chin and neck. Even with vigorous exercise fat in these areas often will not go away and the patient must rely on the surgeon to make the final adjustments. During the procedure
Dallas liposuction surgeons use equipment that lets them change the contour of the body by removing fat from these specific areas.
The problem area fat is literally vacuumed up with a suction device during the procedure. Liposuction is usually used on women patients but, more and more, men are using the procedure to reduce breast size. The people who benefit the most from the procedure, according to several
Dallas liposuction surgeons, are those that have concentrated areas of fat and firm, elastic skin.
The reason for this is that, to really look good, the skin must contract around the new contours of the body. Because of this, older patients with less elastic skin may not be good candidates for liposuction.
As far as recover goes, it depends on the size of the area that was treated, but, in general, patients are usually back to their routine within a week or two. It usually takes 2 or 3 months to completely recover from all the effects of having the surgery. A compression garment is normally worn for a few weeks after surgery.
Ultrasound Assisted Liposculpture Surgery
A newer procedure is called Ultrasound-assisted Liposculpture, abbreviated "UAL". In this variant on normal liposuction, a metal probe is used which carries a high frequency ultrasonic sound. The sound emitted by the UAL device liquifies the fat and it is then removed through suction as normal.
UAL probes do not produce nearly as much bleeding or tissue damage, so the surgeon can actually remove much more fat during the procedure. Compared with traditional liposuction, UAL also produces less bruising. The results of UAL are usually smoother, decreasing the chance of contour irregularity, which can sometimes occurs after traditional liposuction.
However, due to the nature of the UAL probe, this procedure can only be done on certain areas of the body and you should check with your surgeon to see if you can use this technique. This technique may also be significantly more expensive, since the equipment used is quite costly. Early UAL machines of the first two generations have been linked to cases of skin damage caused by overly powerful sound waves, but third and later generations do not have this problem.
When you have found the Dallas liposuction surgeon you want to use for the procedure, you may find that they recommend using a combination of techniques to achieve the desired result.
